You can't beat running a car in the sand. It's what they are made for.

It will be fun, just do it, if you get any sea water on it though wash it off or it will rust up. Sand will probably make everything go crunchy, but it will be worth it.

well, I did take it to the beack for a play, and it was awesome.....until.......

it stopped. I took the body off and decided it must have thermalled and cut out. No problems I thought, until, an hour or so later I tried it again and the magic smoke escaped from the speedo! DOH!

thing is, Im pretty sure it shouldnt have overheated, as they have a thermal cut off? so I don't really know whats happened.

Ian, where did you go to to get your motor fixed? mines from the good old US 0f A which may make getting a replacement a bit trickier?

That sucks, I think a replacement should be in order as you have only used it a few times!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Drop Novak USA an email. Their customer service is normally really good

Bad luck Ste. Let us know how you get on. Novak should replace it but it would be good to know if they don't and the reason why.

well chaps, I have been in contact with novak USA, and, unfortunately for me, as I saved myself lots of pennies by getting it shipped over from the USA, Novak class it as being bought on the 'grey market', which basically invalidates my warranty. Its possibly outside of that anyway, as its only a 120 day warranty. They have directed me to CML to arrange for a non-warranty exchange, which should cost somewhere around $74, if the CML costs translate to the costs on the novak site. Plus $15 if I want a new one rather than a repaired one.

fun and games.

Where did you buy it from. As They were fine about me buying it from the states and shipping it over to the UK.

losipartshouse. I dont know if its a new thinkg, but they seemed pretty adament that their policy is not to honour warranties unless bought via the preferred routes, IE. a CML supplies UK stockist, which obv. means paying over the odds! robbing sods!

to be fair them, they did get back to me sharpish and were polite and informative.

Mine was off RC boyz on ebay, but regardless of where it comes from the 120 warranty is valid from the initial date of purchase. I would go back to them with that and see what they say.

Not sure what the law is like for export goods but your statuary rights say it should be covered for 12 months, it could even be 2 years. I have heard legally it's up to 6 years. If it fails before that it's not fit for purpose but if this is true then it would only apply to goods bought in the UK. Do some internet research and find out your rights.

Even if you are entitled to a new one under warrantee you might still have a battle to prove it didn't fail due to abuse.

hmmmm... I might do some internet hunting at dinner, need to check when I bought it too, see if it is within the 120 days still or not. you might be right about the statuatory 12 months.....maybe.......

That's rubbish Ste. I don't know if temp was your problem or not, but I don't think the cut off is a safe way to protect the ESC, I think they're set very high, I've seen Tom's GTB way over the recommended temp with no sign of a cut. I've kept a fairly close check on the temp of mine, it's been okay, but I could believe a long stint ragging it in the sand could over heat it.

Novak were fine with me on my broken rotor, I received the 5mm upgrade free of charge shipped from the US.
