OK, so since I don't think i will be racing before the indoor season, my attention is drawn towards those crappy Dirt hawgs. So I have had a look about for some alternatives. What about these:

they might pull on the carpet a bit like mini pins maybe? It'l be hard to make a decision on control tyres if we want to change for this winter, unless someone is willing to get some possibles, and get tot the hall, roll out the carpet and try them before the start oif the season!

Looks like they'd be less hard on the carpet than mini pins, but probably harder than dirt hawgs.

I'd love to use a tyre that didn't require the cleaning and traction additive application that the dirt hawgs do.

Maybe we could give mini pins a trial to assess how they affect the carpet.

i'm happy to keep going with dirt hawgs i think the need for cleaning is much less than when we started using them, and most of the memebers have one or 2 sets that are still good for a season or 2

How about leaving it open and using whatever tyre u want aslong as there not spiked and dont damage the carpet, maybe a old set of shumacher spikes that have been warn down to a slick just any old tyre thats smooth, it would save money for people not wanting to buy those stupid dirt hawgs

Since most people have invested in the hawgs we have to keep using them, I think the club still actually has sets to sell. However, I am not a fan of them, I think mini pins is the way but the carpet will cut up. At least the hawgs put everyone on a level playing field and set up becomes more important.

yup. as most people have dirt hawgs, the best, and cheapest for most, way to go would be to stick with them for this year at least. If we opened it up again to anything but spiked, the members with plenty of pennies to spend will just keep buying tyres until they find something that works really well, leaving the people who can't afford to keep buying tyres struggling. A control tyre keeps things fairer and the racing closer.

One advantage of the Hawgs is the way they last. I'm still on my first set after two seasons and would keep using them except I now need some on B4 wheels.

For anyone who fancies some good old spike based racing I just noticed the Bury indoor series on Oople:

Track looked awsome last year, may be nice if we could work our dates around these. I don't think there's many other RC dates to think about.

Looks good! I quite fancy that.

You only need to take the fronts off the losi wheels and put them on a set of B4 fronts. The rear wheels should just fit on the B4 - job done.

Southport run an indoor winter series too. They do run outdoors to the 18th October though!

Are you insane? Then my wheels wouldn't match!! :P I promised my old set to the lad who bought my Losi.

I actually tried Losi rear wheels at our regional and found they were slightly different in that the nuts wouldn't thread on so far, offset may have been the same though.

Does anyone fancy this, looks like they are pre booking and there appears to be a Truck/SC class!
