Hi guys, just got a new ZX-5 readyset and I wondering if there is anything in particular I should do before running it in earnest? There doesn't look like there is any lube on any of it really, is that ok?

I've been out of RC cars for 15 years or so but it all came flooding back when I had to feed the receiver wire through that tiny tube!

Thanks

Pete

Welcome to the forum!

The only places that really needs lube is in the bearings, diff and shock seals, so unless you've had it to pieces it's probably okay. If it came ready built it's worth checking all the screws are nipped up. Other than that just pick up some tyres suitable for whatever your doing, are you coming racing with us?

Thanks!

I don't know how good these standard tyres will be but I guess I'll find out! I will be off roading.

Yes I will be coming up there to race but I live in Chorley so will only make the trip up there at certain times. I don't really understand the structure of all the race meetings yet really!

Looking at a piccy of the ZX-5 the spiked tyres look like they'll go okay on grass.

We run a control tyre only indoors which you can get through the club if you want to come indoor racing later in the year. We race indoors for the winter season, we've only a few outdoor meetings left now.

Structure of the club meetings is easy. Turn up at 9am, track building and booking in until about 9:45am, racing starting around 10am. We're a small friendly club so it's a relaxed atmosphere all the way through. When things start everyone is allocated into a heat. Each heat gets 3 x 5 minute qualifying runs, with breaks in between the runs for battery charging. The idea is to get as many laps as possible in each of the 5 min runs. After all heats have completed 3 x 5 minute runs. Everyone is put into a final based on their fastest heat. Then all the finals are run, which are basically the same format as one of the 5 minute heat runs, whoever's in front after 5 minutes wins. All finished for around 1-2pm.
