I reckon the dusty (or muddy) bumpy track at the Steam Fair would be perfect for a bit of Slash action. Given the likely hood of interested spectators the Slash would also be the perfect vehicle for giving people a go - waterproof, tough, closed wheel and not too fast.

I envisaged a few types of event that people may enjoy:

Track racing - just like our normal races.

Slash pursuit - a mini oval where Slashs start on either side and have to catch each other

Sumo Slash - a ring layed out with hose where the only goal is to push the other Slash(s) out of the ring.

Only tiny issue is that there is just one Slash in the club at the moment, one more Slash could make all of the above possible and we would have cars we could easily hand over to the public without risking our race cars. Obviously the more the better, surely somebody fancies some Slash action?

We could buy a few then advertise them as for sale, use them through the weekend with the view to selling them by the end of the weekend, we'd then have some new members ready for the on / off / in / out / rain / shine Slash Class!!

Sorry, I have an extensive shopping list for July including a new car (big one), new back door, new garage door, birthday presents for Jake and the weekend away in Europe I promised Zoë for her birthday..........expensive and defiantly no cash for a Slash.

I would however support the club in buying another Slash, I don't think we should sell it though. Keep it for future events......like a charity event to raise money for me as I have large sums of money vanishing from my account.

I think they are one of the best options because they are closed wheel, durable, simple, widely available, waterproof....

Maybe, but I think Slashs could be more fun than buggies, not that I've raced them, but I'd like to try.

Slashes are easy to drive, tough and slow. We're only talking about a sample session of what its all about. There is nothing stopping them buying a slash and racing at the club with the buggies.

Once we have them hooked we can get them in the club and advise on the best 2wd they can buy for their budget.

Or maybe we'd all enjoy bumper to bumper Slash racing and it would exist in it's own right. Quite a lot of interest in a truck class on Oople:

No dave, you missunderstood, get them to have a go with the club slash (and Ians) and when they are hooked, give them information on which buggy to buy. I'm not suggesting we get new members to buy a slash unless we do as Ian wants and start slash racing. There is no reason why people couldn't run a slash in the buggy class. It would be fun, kinda like a mobile chicane.

I think we would be better having a 4WD buggy class b4 anything else, we would be able to run on what ever track we are using for the 2WD and a few of us allready have 1. mine now has a 5.5 brushless in it and propper size wheels, it is much nicer to drive than the losi, i wondering now weather i wana race the losi anymore.

you'll soon realise that 2wd is much less hastle things don't get hot, you don't need the best batterys, and you'll not have my pred blasting past at evey hint of a straight line, it's mad fast
