So here we are again, facing another season out-doors waiting to see if its raining on a sunday morning. Has anyone got any suggestions on how we can decide if we are racing or not if the weather looks questionable. Especially for us Preston lot who have to travel some distance to turn only to see that its raining and the meeting is being called off.

its going to have to be on the locals to judge it really, with a final decision from the chair and/or secretary, then either a post on the forum or a few phonecalls. as long as we all know which to check it doesnt matter too much!

turning up at racing to have to go home again is pretty rubbish, it is very hard to let everyone know on the morning before people start turning up. Can everyone check this website before they leave? We could post a decision on here at say, 8am?

There's no way you can decide the night before because the weather is way too unpredictable, even deciding on the morning can be wrong because it can brighten up.

We race outdoors in the UK, maybe it's time we got waterproof! So unless the weather is dire, we can still race. It's not that hard to do. We've had some great wet meetings running buggies, we should be able to do this with touring cars too.

I'm planning on being waterproof for Sunday, a few bags/baloons everyone can be. As we proved last year, running in the wet without water proofing is not a good idea, but missing meetings regularly due to rain is crap too.

maybe we should put our heads together and come up with a 'kit' for waterproofing, market it and start getting rich :D

It's easy in principle, balloons will do the job. You only need it to be splash proof. I will give it a go for this weekend.

As for the forecast. The prospect of logging on Sunday morning to inform people of the weather forecast doesn't appeal. By the time I have booted up and logged on I could have rang around most people.

I have to cancel meetings. I would go with Ste's idea.....without the making millions bit. I will bring a shed load of balloons on Sunday.

I am a little nervous about my GTB. It is water proof but running expensive gear in the wet without additional protection always makes me nervous.

I agree that John is best person to make the call over whether to race or not. I also agree that making the cars waterproof would be a good idea, but how effective will this be. There is also the issue of if we do race in the rain and some of us have waterproofed our cars, but some members have not done this and end up with wrecked electrics.

it would be crazy to run if you haven't waterproofed, but if enough of us have waterproofed to race then we should, would be a good idea to get together some baloons / bags incase anyone is unprepared.

As for risk I guess the waterproofing won't be perfect and there will always be a risk of damaging something, but with some care this should at least be as low as with buggies.

Ian is right. If we all bring balloons and zip tie things we should be able to get everyone running.

I am going to have a bash at making a box for my reciever and speedo this afternoon to water proof it, as ballons over my brushless will probably result in a melted balloon.

The GTB is water proof. Not so sure about the switch though.
