I haven't got a very strong opinion on this.... Okay well maybe I have.

If you want to go and race any make short course trucks probably an SC10 is fastest. I don't know much on the HPI, but if it is cheap that will be reflected in the parts quality, although they may be totally adequate. If you want to redefine how we race with a one manufacturer, all surface, all weather truck that doubles as a user friendly near indestructible play thing for young ones get the Slash and come racing!

the hpi is £180 rtr and the sc10 and slash arnt much more £30 or £40 all rtr and all 3 need a pack of cells and a charger not a major issue tho . but thinking a hpi and the money i save mite get me a trakpower lipo from je spares for it .

The Slash you linked is 2.4GHz and comes with a Traxxas 7 cell NiMh pack and a basic charger, that's worth a bit, it's also waterproof and unless HPI have improved the SF-1 servo the Traxxas servo is tougher, faster and water proof.

I would do the SC10. I just get the sense that if I went for anything else I would be disappointed and wished I had bought with my head rather than my heart. It does seem to be to the fastest and best option.

Fastest maybe, but the best depends on what you're after, Slash wins on parts quality, toughness and spec for the money.

You are so right but why do we buy certain cars? That's the point I was trying to make, you could have many different reasons for buying a car, make, looks, toughness, spec etc etc but I would always be wishing I had gone for the fastest. There is something deep down that tells me the fastest is the best, that's why we always buy "go faster" parts.

slash looks the best value for money at the moment with the 2.4 and cells can always go brushless as and when and use the orion 2400 lipo but its more of a toy for my little girl she want to have a go when she sees me go out on a sunday morning at least with something along these lines i get the best of both worlds :D how many people would let there 3 year old lose with there buggy ?

Wooo! Slash racing comes to SLMCC. Go easy on the motor for the first battery like it says in the instructions to let the brushes bed. Hope she likes it :).
